rules of the competition

eligibility

Directors must be aged between 17 and 30 on June 1st 2008.

The competition is worldwide.

Video clips must be created after the 1st of January 2007.

Video clips must not exceed 90 seconds.

Video clips must deal with the theme "Water, People and Sustainable Development" (uses of water, challenges, solutions, culture, traditions)

Video clips produced in a language other than English should be subtitled in English or accompanied by a script of the dialogue in English, French or Spanish.

Directors are allowed to present more than one video clips. Each of them is registered individually.

pre-selection

Video clips that will be submitted to the international jury will first be selected by the pre-selection committee of the Festival VidéEau.

Directors will be notified by June 30th 2008 of the results of the pre-selection process.

registration and participation

Video clips submitted to the pre-selection committee must be received before midnight on 15th June 2008

Video clips must be sent with the fulfilled registration form and the authorization to use the video clip free of copyright, for exclusively educational and non-lucrative purposes.

Only MiniDV (NTSC) or DVD (multizone format) video clips will be accepted.

Shipping cost related to sending the video clip to the office of the International Secretariat for Water, is at the charge of the participant. Moreover, the Festival VidéEau does not cover the cost of other items (Video tape, DVDs, posters, photographs, and so on).

Once the video spot is sent to the festival organizers, it can not be cancelled or removed from the competition.

Festival organizers will not handle any rights regarding the projection or broadcast, the work received will be free of rights.

The selected spots are eligible to be part of the projected national and international touring Festival.

prizes and broadcasting

The Festival VidéEau will be offering three prizes: $2 000 for the 1st one, $1 500 for the second one and $1 000 for the third prize.

Winners will be announced during the World Youth Congress 2008 that will take place in Quebec City (Canada) from August 10th to 21st 2008.

The three winning clips will automatically be pre-selected for the official competition of the International “Water and Film” Event that will take place in Istanbul, Turkey in March 2009.

Video clips submitted to the Festival VidéEau cannot be directly presented to the International “Water and Film” Event in Istanbul 2009 if they are not selected by the International Committee of the Festival VidéEau.
